Vallauris is a pottery region in south-eastern France, near Cannes where ceramics have been produced since ancient times. The area grew as a pottery centre in the late 19th century, and many studios have flourished there since, notably those of Massier and Foucard-Jourdan. In 1948 Picasso came to live in Vallauris, where he stayed until 1955.
