What sort of items do Haywards sell?
As a full-service auction business, Hayward’s is able to take a wide variety of items others won't. From entire house lots and individual collections, to specialty items such as engineering equipment, tools, fine art and collectables.
Because of this, Hayward’s Auction House attracts buyers from all over the country which ensures great prices for your items.

Acceptance of items
Items can be dropped off at our rooms at 5 Carroll Street during normal business hours, including Saturday mornings (9am to 12pm). Please contact us first if you are intending to drop of items, so that you can make an appointment. Please note that we are unable to take in goods on Wednesdays.
If you are intending to bring a large number of items, please contact the team beforehand to arrange a time so we have plenty of staff on hand to help.
Picking up of items
A packing and pick-up service is available for customers who can’t bring their good to the auction house. Plastic crates and packing materials are available for customers who prefer to pack items themselves. This reduces the transport charges.
Seller Fees
A 23% (20%+GST) commission rate applies to all goods sold through our Antique & Collectable, Art and other speciality auctions. A 30% (26%+GST) applies to all goods sold through General & Tool Auctions.
Payment
Payment is made within 14 days after the sale of the last item by internet banking. An option to pick up a cheque from the auction rooms is available if preferred. A detailed remittance is provided on payment.

Estates/Downsizing
Hayward's Auction House make clearing and selling items from an estate simple, which is why we are the number one choice for estate clearances in Otago.
The process starts with a free, no-obligation appraisal where one of the team will meet with you at the property and discuss what will work best for you. We advise our customers to contact us as early in the process as possible, so that we can ensure that all the items of value are identified.
A large number of local lawyers, trustees and executors prefer to work with Hayward’s Auction House. Hayward’s make the process easy and transparent to ensure the smooth sale and best possible price for your items.
Onsite Auctions
It can be easier and more cost effective to hold an auction away from the auction rooms. Hayward’s staff can work with a board of trustees (or customer) to collect and sort all the items, catalogue, photograph, and run an auction without removing everything to the auction rooms.
Hayward’s advertises the auction and makes sure that all items are picked up and paid for in a timely manner.
Stock Clearance and Liquidation Auctions
Hayward’s Auction House has experience with stock clearance and liquidation auctions, having been often asked by liquidators to sell off business assets. This is achieved by either on-site or in-house auctions.
