Lot Details

Mid-century Scandinavian asymmetric pottery bowl from the bekå studio of Sweden. A rare example of birger åström’s work carrying not only an incised studio mark beneath but also a paper label including the artists name. The vessel itself presents in teardrop form with carved coloured detailing in red, yellow, blue and white set against a contrasting black background. 145mm in length by 113mm wide by 72mm tall. Weighing just short of 300gms. Excellent vintage order. Circa mid-century Sweden. birger was born on November 25th, 1930. He opened his own studio in 1952 and in 1957 registered the company bekå keramik on åsvägen in örnsköldsvik.
