Mid-century Scandinavian Hank Keramik of Norway studio vase with retailer’s label.. Featuring horizontal banding decorated in various colours and designs. Tones include yellow, white, blue, green and maroon. Signed beneath “hank” for hank keramik of Norway along with the artists interlocking initials “nk”. Retaining a period paper retailers label for the Scandinavian department store “steen & strøm” of Oslo Norway. 225mm tall by 140mm in diameter. Excellent vintage order. circa mid century. “Steen & Strøm” opened its first department store in Norway in 1874 having previously operated as a wine and general store. The premises was destroyed by fire in 1929 but by 1930 a new store was rebuilt taking architectural inspiration from Paris. Steen and Strøm grew to have stores in Sweden, Denmark and Norway.
