Lot Details
Early Purbeck pottery textured charger / open bowl. Finished in various mushroom tones with a highly frit glazed central pool. These examples being the most desirable Purbeck pieces. Starburst Sgraffito decoration as shown probably from the hand of Robert Jefferson. Measuring 220mm in diameter. Circa late 1960’s. Purbeck pottery was established in Westbourne, near Bournemouth, Dorset in the mid 1960’s by Robert Jefferson and Eddie Goodall, both formerly of Poole pottery. Jefferson pioneering Poole’s delphis range and Goodall being Poole’s chief thrower during the 1950’s. The studio produced a range of table and decorative studio-style stoneware’s. The company moved a few miles from Westbourne to Poole in Dorset in 1995.
