Beneath are nine small fish like objects all swimming skywards. Finished in both a matte and high gloss glaze in the tones orange, brown, fawn and green. Full studio stamp beneath for Søholm along with a metal wall hanger and model code as shown. Designed by Noomi Backhausen for the Danish studio. Noomi Backhausen (1938 -2011) designed for Søholm from 1966 to 1990…. She later set up her own studio in Rønne circa 1996. Measures 175mm square by 28mm deep. Weighing just short of 1kg. Excellent vintage order. Circa late 60’s / early 70’s. Søholm pottery on the Danish island of Bornholm was founded in 1835 by the Wolffsen family. From initially producing utilitarian pottery, production moved to decorative work. The 1950’s saw the introduction of new ranges of housewares some decorated by the young Noomi Backhausen as well as wall plaques, figures and lighting. Artists at the studio included Johannes Hedegaard, Henning Seidelin and Orla Muff.
